In Barrington Community Unit School District 220
we are inspiring ALL learners to achieve excellence.
Achievement:
Strategic Goal -
Instruction:
To develop and implement structures, strategies, and tools to meet the diverse learning needs of our students, in order to improve student achievement.
- Improve student proficiency in verbal, written, and numeric literacy, as evidenced by an increase in the percentage of students, districtwide, who exceed expectations, and a decrease in the percentage of students who do not meet expectations, as measured on state tests (ISAT, PSAE).
- All Barrington CUSD 220 students will have a shared vocabulary and operational understanding of character, as demonstrated by local assessment measures.
- All Barrington CUSD 220 schools will be caring communities, as perceived by students, staff, and parents, and evidenced through local assessment measures.
Excellence (4 "E"s):
Engagement...
Engaging all students and staff in meaningful and purposeful work every day. In the broader sense, engagement also refers to a deep commitment to reflect the diverse voices and perspectives of our community in shaping the future of our schools.
Expectations...
Clearly articulated high expectations for all students and staff, with collective clarity regarding the following questions related to student learning.
- What is it we expect our students to learn?
- How will we know when they have learned it?
- How will we respond when they don't learn?
Equity...
Ensuring that all policies and practices are fair and just for all students (e.g., grading practices, clear standards, allocation of resources etc.)
Effectiveness...
Data-guided decision-making throughout the organization and the implementation of research-based best practice in all classrooms for all students.
Strategic Goals
INSTRUCTION:
To develop and implement structures, strategies, and tools to meet the diverse learning needs of our students, in order to improve student achievement.
RESOURCES:
To design and clearly communicate a financial plan that will isntill confidence and support to generate sufficient revenue to meet all the District's current and future resource requirements.
COMMUNITY AND TRUST:
To build mutual understanding and trust between the School District and its community of stakeholders.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT:
To develop and fund a staff development program that enhances the capabilities of all staff to: identify learners' needs; adapt instruction to address needs; and inspire all learners to achieve excellence.
STAFFING:
To develop and implement human resource startegies and desirable working conditions that will result in attracting and retaining high quality staff.
INSTRUCTION-TECHNOLOGY:
To renew our commitment to use technology to improve instruction and to provide students and teachers with opportunities to develop essential technology skills.
